Just us Girls #438 - Photo Week

It's time for Photo Week at Just Us Girls and Vicki has chosen an amazing photo for our inspiration!

Sadly, this is our last week with our April Guest Designer Karren Johnson.  I would like to say THANK YOU for joining us this past month and sharing all of your amazing creations!  Now jump on over to the JUGS Blog to see how Vicki's Photo has inspired Karren and the rest of the Design Team.

I was pretty literal with my interpretation!  Love the colors and the black and white artwork paired with the orange flowers.  I used Concord & 9th Background Blocks.  The flower die cut has orange Stickles on the flower heads.

Come share your inspirations with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would put you in the running at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Just us Girls #437 - Color Week

The amazing Carol is our hostess for our Color Week Challenge at Just Us Girls and her color choice is Prominently Purple!

Come check out all of the pretty purple creations by our Guest Designer Karren Johnson and the rest of the JUGS Design Team!

Using Distress Oxide Inks in Seedless Preserves and Wilted Violet.  I smooshed the inks on my craft mat, misted and pressed and moved the watercolor paper around in the inks.  The Seedless Preserves ended up looking more pinkish.  After it was dry, stamped the script from Gina K's Botanicals, the flowers from Unity and the sentiment from Hero Arts all in Versafine Onyx ink.

Now it's your turn to share you Prominently Purple project with us at JUGS!  You could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Just Us Girls #436 - Trend Week

It's Trend Week at Just Us Girls, a time to create using one of the current trends we are seeing all around Blogland!  Lisa is our hostess this week and she has chosen the ever trendy Black and White Stripes!

Come on over to the JUGS Blog to see what Karren Johnson, our April Guest Designer and the rest of the amazing Design Team have created using Black and White Stripes!

I paired the beautiful peonies from Altenew with the black and white bold strripes and stamping the sentiment directly onto one of the white stripes.  The card base is Apricot Appeal from SU.

I just had to make a second card using the black and white stripes.  I love this Gina K set, Lots of Lines.  Stamped the 3 squares onto white and added a bolder striped piece along the edge,  The leaves are a die cut from green vellum, left in the die and inked with Versamark and then heat embossed white green ep.

Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would put you in the running for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Just Us Girls #435 - Word Week

It''s time again for Word Week at Just Us Girls and Ina is challenging us with the word Bold!  There are so many directions you can take with this.

I would like to welcome our April Guest Designer - Karren Johnson!  Hop on over to the JUGS Blog to see all of the Bold creations from Karren and the rest of the talented Design Team.

I went with a Bold sentiment and Bold stripes!  Stamped the background stripes from MFT in Hero Arts Tide Pool ink as well as the small balloon.  The larger balloon was stamped with Memento Nautical Blue ink.  The sentiment was printed out on a laser printer and then foiled with some Tim Holtz Frozen foil.  Layered it all onto a navy card base.

Now it's your turn to come play along with us.  You could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then put you in the running for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Alcohol Ink and Foil

I've been having a lot of fun playing with alcohol inks and trying my hand at foiling!  This week's sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch! was a perfect opportunity to use both without hiding much of the background.

This started out by misting photo paper with alcohol and dropping orange alcohol ink onto it and blowing around with a straw.  The lace border is from Gina K stamped with Archival Black ink.  The butterfly is from Concord & 9th which was covered with Deco Foil Transfer Gel and then put through a laminator with some iridescent silver foil.  Stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts and die cut the banner strip.

Thanks for taking a closer look!
